Master Controlling (MSc)

The Master in Controlling (MSc) focuses on the financial function of the organization, which can be broken down into five core tasks: managing operational, financial, and fiscal cash flows; setting up internal and external reporting; supporting decision-making; and measuring (strategic) performance. You will learn not only how to perform these tasks, but also how to critically analyze and improve them, with an eye for both theory and practice.

In addition, you will develop broad professional skills that are essential for the modern financial professional. These include data-driven working, creating social value, and communicating advice convincingly. These competencies are integral to all modules - they are not separate from the content.

During the program, you will work on real-life case studies, presentation assignments, and ethical (professional) dilemmas. This allows you to apply your knowledge directly and increase your impact in practice from the outset. You will conclude with a thesis in which you will investigate and solve a current issue from your own organization or work environment based on academic insights.

Premaster

We aim to create groups in which the participants have an equal level of knowledge. That is why a premaster may be part of the admission procedure. The premaster prepares participants for the various modules and focuses on basic academic skills and knowledge.

Time investment and result

The Master Controlling at TIAS is easily combined with your work and private life. You can start the program in either May or November. The defense of your Master’s thesis is always in May, 24 or 18 months after you start. For participants starting in May, the course load is 13-19 hours per week. For participants starting in November, it is 19-26 hours. This includes lecture days.

Each month, there are three consecutive days of lectures in Tilburg, from Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon. The shared learning experiences and individual study on these days offer excellent added value for participants. Your schedule is otherwise flexible, allowing you combine your studies with your work and private life.

On successful completion of the program, you will receive an academic Master of Science (MSc) degree. The master qualifies you for admission to the Executive Master of Finance & Control; our Registered Controller (RC) post-master program.
