Program design and contents
Professional Education Administration
The content of the program is structured around two main themes that serve the program's objective: increasing your impact as an administrator or director and adding value to education. Each theme is developed through four consecutive sessions using a wide variety of learning formats.
In each session, you will engage in challenging formats, including:
- Case teachings where you step into the shoes of a fellow administrator or director, discuss the core of dilemmas in small groups, and explore various perspectives and action options for a specific issue.
- Interactive mini-lectures featuring recent research and the latest knowledge from both national and international sources.
- Structured discussions of your own case studies under experienced guidance.
- Guest speakers and roundtable discussions on current, relevant topics.
Before each session, you will prepare by reading literature, watching video clips, and working on thought-provoking questions and assignments.
Theme 1: Steering on Educational Quality In the first 4 sessions of the program, administrative issues and administrative actions within your own organization are discussed.
- How do you arrive at a useful vision of educational quality?
- How can you steer on educational quality? What is more and less effective?
- How do you make meaningful use of hard and soft information?
- How do you build a well-functioning administrative community that aims for good education for all pupils/students?
- What role can internal supervision be imposed in steering on educational quality?
Theme 2: Aligning with the Environment In the last 4 sessions, the focus is on the complex environment in which education boards operate.
- How can you adhere to what society and politics expect from education boards?
- How do you fulfil your role as a hub between external expectations and internal possibilities?
- How can you deal strategically with partnerships?
- How can you collaborate effectively in (regional) networks?
- How can you give exclusive weight to the values ​​of the democratic constitutional state in your administrative actions?
A word from our Academic Directors
Board members of educational organisations have a special responsibility. They contribute to the development of young people and the society of the future. In the Netherlands, educational boards have a lot of room to make their own choices and set their own accents. How do you fulfil that responsible role? And how do you arrive at sensible decisions? In this programme we offer the opportunity to reflect on your administrative role with colleagues, under the guidance of experts, and to discuss your real administrative dilemmas. The program consists of 8 sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a certificate of participation.
