Why choose this program?

Improve operational performance with analytical insights and thoughtful process design

This module is designed to provide you with insight and skills in analyzing, assessing, and improving operational processes within manufacturing and service environments. You will work toward the following learning objectives:

Insight into operational performance: you understand how choices in process design and management lead to performance in the areas of lead time, customer service, capacity and inventory.

Working with quantitative models: you will learn to work with models such as Little's Law and variability formulas and apply them to your own processes to analyze waiting times, occupancy, and flow.

Process Analysis and Design: You will become familiar with creating and interpreting simple models for process analysis and design, which you can use to structurally identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.

Trade-offs in operations: you will understand the trade-offs between cost, speed, flexibility, and reliability and learn how to make conscious choices instead of ad-hoc solutions.

Translation into your own practice: you will learn to translate theoretical insights and models into your own organization, aimed at improving and redesigning operational processes.

What will the program bring you?

Improved flow and shorter lead times: fewer queues, less work in progress, and higher delivery reliability.

Stronger operational decision-making: choices about capacity, occupancy, and buffers are supported by data and factory physics.

More efficient processes: higher productivity and lower failure and inventory costs without compromising on quality.

Professional growth as an operations leader: a more robust discussion partner for management, finance, and supply chain on performance and investments.

What makes this master module unique?

  • Impact in 6 weeks: The mix of an online kick-off, three on-campus days, focused self-study, and working on your own case study will provide insights you can immediately apply in your work environment.
  • Academic & recognized: 4 ECTS as a microcredential with a digital badge; part of an accredited master's degree and stackable if you wish to continue your studies.
  • Top lecturers from both academia and practice: TIAS professors and experienced experts from the field combine analytical depth with realistic cases, so that theory and practice reinforce each other.
  • Blended & small-scale: intensive guidance and peer dialogue in a small group; what you explore online, you bring to life on-campus with cases and simulations.
  • Rich learning experience with peers: you will learn in a small group of like-minded professionals, share experiences, and enrich your case study with concrete practical insights.
