Commerce as a system competence in an omnichannel world

Customers move seamlessly between webshop, account manager, marketplace, and physical store. Yet many organizations still operate in isolated functions and channels: marketing, sales, service, and distribution each with their own KPIs, data, and processes. In a context of platform models, AI-driven personalization, and rising customer expectations, commerce is increasingly shifting from “choosing the right channel” to the ability to orchestrate value across channels, data, processes, and people.

In the master module Omnichannel Commerce, you move away from a purely transactional view of sales or a single focus on account management. You explicitly explore commerce as a system competence: an integrated organizational capability to design, manage, and maintain value propositions within dynamic ecosystems. You investigate how customer journeys are shaped across touchpoints, how technology and human interaction reinforce each other, and which commercial capabilities are needed to remain relevant and consistent.

Using international cases and your own practice, you analyze where commerce in your organization gets stuck: in channel conflicts, fragmented customer journeys, silos between marketing, sales, and service, or a lack of clarity about your position within digital ecosystems and platforms. You examine commercial maturity, identify missing roles and competencies, and determine the choices required to better leverage omnichannel customer value.

This module equips you with the language, frameworks, and practical tools to structurally reorganize commerce. You learn to manage commercial strategy, channels, data, and teams in an integrated way and develop concrete actions to enhance commercial maturity. You leave with a sharper understanding of commerce as a system competence and a roadmap to align customer value, channels, and ecosystems for the future.
