Why choose this program?

Strong academic program

The Master in Controlling is an interactive, academically grounded yet highly practical program that prepares Controllers to become Business Partners with a strong focus on Business & Society. Participants complete part of the program alongside other business professionals, allowing them to understand each other’s ways of thinking and communicating, and ultimately collaborate more effectively.

The program encourages multidisciplinary and critical thinking, helping you learn how to tackle complex challenges within your organization. During the monthly three-day modules, you and your fellow participants fully immerse yourselves in the coursework. Interactive classes, numerous case studies, guest lectures, and assignments challenge you to immediately apply academic knowledge to real-world practice.

You complete the master’s program with a thesis in which you apply what you’ve learned to a real problem within your own organization or for a client.

Achieve state-of-the-art solutions to practical problems.

Apply scientific knowledge directly to real-life cases and your own organization.

Make yourself a valuable business partner by working on your professional skills and competencies in all curriculum modules.

Become proficient in both economic and social value creation. Responsible leadership, collaboration, business modeling and sustainable innovation are integrated aspects of every module.

Expand your network and learn the languages of both finance controllers and accountants.

On completion of the program, meet all admission requirements for our Executive Master of Financial Control (Registered Controller).

How will this program benefit you?

Finance positions cover five areas of responsibility: controlling operating, financial and tax cash flows, setting up internal reporting, setting up external reporting, decision-making support, and (strategic) performance measurement. The Master Controlling gives you the knowledge and experience you need to execute and audit tasks in these areas as a finance professional. At the same time, you will develop your professional skills and competencies in areas such as data analysis, social value creation and the use of clear, persuasive communication to get people on board.

After completing your Master Controlling:

  • You can describe, analyze and audit operating, financial and tax cash flows, and advise responsible experts on these subjects.
  • You know all the ins and outs of internal and external financial and economic information provision.
  • You can create an objective analysis of an organization’s performance in relation to its goals and risks, social and otherwise.
  • You can advise on the procurement and allocation of scarce resources within an organization.
  • You speak the language of future collaborative partners; financial controllers, accountants, IT, business and HR.
  • You know how to solve complex issues through multidisciplinary analysis.
  • You fully meet the admission requirements for our Executive Master of Finance & Control post-master program.

How will this program benefit your organization?

Organizations depend on good finance professionals. Ongoing labor shortages have made it a challenge to recruit and retain such talent. This is unlikely to change any time soon. In fact, the shortages are expected to get worse in upcoming years. That means the best way to ensure access to the right knowledge is to invest in a good program, such as the TIAS Master Controlling. Thanks to this program’s effective design and extensive attention to business & society, participants become fully capable business partners in short order. On completion of the program, participants qualify for admission to our Registered Controller or Registered Accountant (RA, Dutch Chartered Accountant) program.

Return on investment for your organization:

  • Participants gain scientific knowledge and insights of practical value. That means they can apply their new knowledge directly to their work.
  • Complex issues within an organization can be resolved thanks to participants’ multidisciplinary study and analysis of such issues.
  • For their final thesis, participants must analyze an actual issue at their own organization or at a customer. This could involve the design and implementation of a performance dashboard, improvements to cost allocation methods or analyzing and advising on a specific investment opportunity.
  • Participants can describe, analyze and audit the internal and external financial and economic information provision – including operating, financial and tax cash flows – and advise responsible experts on these subjects.
  • Participants are up to date on the latest developments in business and society, such as the measurement, reporting and auditing of sustainability data.
  • Young employees are more loyal to their organization when they can develop and advance in their career.
