Effective and people-oriented change in a rapidly changing and uncertain environment
Organizations are almost constantly changing: strategies are being refined, processes digitized, teams reorganized. At the same time, the environment in which this is happening is becoming faster, more uncertain, and more complex. This makes change less predictable and linear than traditional change approaches suggest. In this master's module in Change Management, you will explore what effective and people-oriented change requires in such a dynamic, digital context.
You will explore both classic and modern trends in change management and explicitly link them to digitization, data, and AI. You will look at how structure, processes, roles, and technology relate to behavior, emotions, culture, and power, and how that combination determines the success or failure of change. In doing so, you will gain an up-to-date picture of how data-driven management and algorithmic decision-making can strengthen the change process, but also put it under pressure.
The human aspect is central. You will delve into motivation and resistance, psychological safety, trust, and the tensions that arise when work changes due to new systems, dashboards, or AI applications. You will learn to look more closely at patterns and forces within your organization, and which interventions and forms of leadership help to create movement without losing sight of the human dimension.
With your own change assignment as the common thread, you will connect theory, case studies, and reflection on your own practice. Step by step, you will develop a context-aware perspective on change and work toward a realistic, supported change plan. This will strengthen your ability to not only design change, but also to implement it sustainably in your daily work.
This master's module is bilingual: for each edition, we decide whether the language of instruction will be Dutch or English based on the group.
